Drawing inspiration from ethnographic textiles, beadwork patterns, and modernist weavings, each piece of jewelry is carefully crafted with great attention to balance, weight, color gradients, and sculptural identity. 
 

With a jewelry practice honed in the metals department at Massachusetts College of Art and years working in the visual arts, Hannah's skill and intuitive construction allow her to approach her pieces playfully. Her designs come out of trial and error, and her inspirations are various. 

"This recent work is part of an ongoing exploration of a process I developed while trying to break the rules usually observed in ‘proper’ gold-smithing. By letting molten solder bleed into links of chain I am at once practicing ‘bad’ technique and perfecting a new one.. "  HANNAH KEEFE

When the pieces are on the body, the chaos of numerous chains transforms into a collective harmony. The solder acts like girders, and when certain chains are removed, empty spaces are framed, and air can move throughout.  

As Hannah drowns the links with solder, she is conscious of the dynamics of control and release, freezing and thawing, and hard and soft. The chain itself always hangs downward, which is its elegant nature, but she interrupts its cascade with forks, dams, and eddies. She plays with it and then lets it go on its way.
