ABOUT THIS PROJECT
‘I am a gun-owning liberal democrat transplant from NYC, living in rural Georgia.
I support the 2nd Amendment.
And I believe that our current gun laws are in desperate need of reform.
This is a project called 17gunsalute. Simply put, it is jewelry as activism. A limited edition of 17 .44 magnums, cast in stainless steel from vintage plastic bubble gum charms, fashioned into brooches, political badges.
A delicate bow, like a string tied around a finger in order to remember, ties off its barrel, and a rose cut diamond is set in its muzzle. 100% of the purchase price will be given to Everytown for Gun Safety, a movement of Americans fighting for common sense reforms to reduce gun violence.
Just because there is no obvious tidy solution to the complexities of gun violence in this country, does not mean that we don’t all have a responsibility to do everything in our power to orchestrate change.’
“One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be determined to make them otherwise.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald
