Tracy Steepy’s work investigates color and material equally. She has made jewelry from many non-traditional materials including rubber and plastic resins, all with an eye to color and pushing the boundaries of the materials inherent qualities. As the Head of the Jewelry + Metalsmithing department at Rhode Island School of Design she continues to make jewelry that is unconventional and innovative.
The pieces shown here are part of a new series, Side Glow. Made of electrical shrink plastic and beautifully chosen semi-precious facetted stones, these earrings turn stone setting on “it’s side” in a playful, colorful, and elegant way.
